Removing 'Whats New Now' from front page?

formula1

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am currently developing a new store, and working on the layout (awesomeness using STS tool, even though its been a struggle).

Basically I am needing or wanting to remove the 'whats new here?' tag, infact the whole row / table that contains that and the image and the tag (images/table_background_default.gif)

screen-cap.jpg

'I have tried using the search to no avail :) '

thanks

You can remove the 'whats new' box by // out the box information in the catalog>includes>column_right.php or column_left.php whichever the box is in. You can do that with any of the boxes in the columns.

i think the person is asking about the WHATS NEW HERE text, not the new products box,

if so.. that is in the catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

then you can find this code:

  define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Let\'s See What We Have Here');[code]

Or if you change that to

[code] define('HEADING_TITLE', ($category['categories_name'] ? $category['categories_name'] : 'Let\'s See What We Have Here'));[code]

You'll get the category name,or the default if no category selected

If you remove the Heading and the Heading Image lines, are you supposed to still be getting "what's new here" and a broken image? This has been driving me nuts for two days, and I can't get rid of that one, stupid, single, broken image!

ETA - that borken image is on the right side of EVERY header of every page, shipping, contact, etc. I am using STS, but hadn't gotten as far as that part yet, isn't there something in the stlyesheet that calls up header images?

Finally just gave up and uploaded all the images again.

Hi,

Thanks for the ideas guys, none of which seemed to work.

If there is an easy way to remove that whole row from every page, that would be awesome. Its not needed at all on my site and looks pretty unsightly. I just can not find for the life of me where the code is to kill it.

If i start messing with the : (Language files)

// whats_new box text in includes/boxes/whats_new.php
define('BOX_HEADING_WHATS_NEW', 'What\'s New?');

and

} elseif ($category_depth == 'top') {
 define('HEADING_TITLE', 'What\'s New Here?');

I am still getting the table and "ADD_TITLE" in its place.

Surely there must be an easy way to remove this table / row completely from all pages.

thanks again in advance.

i belive it could be in your catalog/index.php where it calls for that WHATS NEW HERE table that is in the english index.php

I could be completely off because i am VERY new to this, but i would search through the catalog/index.php and look for a code that calls for BOX_HEADING_WHATS_NEW

ok, if you want to replace it with an image, or you can just replace it with a transparent image, you create an image and call it tables_whatsnew.jpg and upload it into the catalog/images/boxes file. I have been doing this with my info box headers, and you can do it on your WHATS NEW header as well.

The code that calls for tha image is in catalog/includes/boxes

here is the first portion on my file.. i dont think i have changed it all that much, but if yours looks like this, you should be able to fix it that way

<?php
