Hello all,

My clients osCommerce site is also showing rather than £

How do you resolve this?

Thanks,

Matt

You`ve told the browser to use the wrong charset, if you put this in the header in place of whats there it should fix it.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />

My version has this in english.php

// charset for web pages and emails

define('CHARSET', 'ISO_8859-1');

and this in all my pages

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

<html <?php echo HTML_PARAMS; ?>>

<head>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo CHARSET; ?>">

<title><?php echo TITLE; ?></title>

Setting the iso value in english.php fixed it.

Yes, but if the server tells the browser it will send a page in utf-8 or whatever, the browser will ignore totally what you put in your page itself and use what the server tells what character set to use.

Matt, you might want to peek at your HTML source.

You said that this was setup:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />

If we're talking about the audio site, a peek at the HTML reveals this:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=" />

There are "pound signs"in the source...

:blush:

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

And if I <right-click> in the browser window and change the encoding to "Western European ISO" all the square boxes magically turn into pound signs.

:)

Fixed - the ? Symbols were set in the Admin area.

Thanks,

If it makes any difference to you, the charset is still undefined in the source:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=" />
