Morpheous
Hi, I am relatively new to not only OSCommerce but also UNIX, i have so far managed to install OSC and it appears to be working fine. However i installed the DEfine_Mainpage module as per instructions, i've altered all of the permissions as per instructions but when i try to edit the file through the admin i get the following error :- ERROR_FILE_NOT_WRITEABLE I can only assume that the permissions are wrong somewhere, i realize this is probably a pretty basic problem but it's driving me nuts. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks! BTW. i'd just like to say that i am a big fan of OSCommerce and to all the people that contribute to this project, i am only a newbie to this project but hopefully one day i will be able to contribute as well. jdelgado
Hey, I'm stuck on that too. I presume you've changed (as I've done) the CHMOD of that file (define_mainpage.php) to 777, right? In my case it didn't make any difference. Just for the records, my OSC has MaxiDVD's plugin (the one with WYSIWYG Editor + Snapshot). Any ideas? I bet it's a silly thing but I can't find the right answer. jdelgado
ok, I got it! As I said: it got to be so simple!!! The thing is that the file that needs to be set to CHMOD 777 it is not the one at: catalog/admin/includes/define_mainpage.php but this another one: catalog/includes/languages/english/mainpage.php (and the others in folders /espanol and /german if you use them) Do that and you'll problem will be solved... at least it worked for me! ;) Regards, Jose Jose Delgado - - - - - - - - - - - - "I wish I were smart enough so I could end all my posts with one of those famous and brillant phrases!" chfields
It works automatically when you use define mainpage. Also when you create an e-mail or newsletter

chfields
You should have a link in your admin screen under catalog that says define mainpage

chfields
It should bring up a screen with a blank box that says define mainpage and the editor will be across the top like in word or excel......Maybe you didn't completely install, I would double check the install
