configuration problem local config.php files

Recommended Posts

I am running oscommerce 2.2-ms2

My webhost is ixwebhosting.

They provide an automatic install of oscommerce.

However, I am trying to configure it for SSL, etc.

I edited the config.php files to specify the SSL host, etc... but it didn't seem

to change anything. After much searching around and looking at the php code,

I found two other config.php files:

catalog/includes/local/config.php

admin/includes/local/config.php

It seems that the settings in these files override the standard config.php files.

Is there any documentation about the purpose of these "local" config files?

I searched the forums/docs and could not find any mention.

Are they part of the standard oscommerce install or is this something that my

web host provider has done/customized in the install?

I just want to understand this, so I know if I'm am configuring things correctly.

Any help or info about this is appreciated.

Thanks

It gets referenced in /includes/application_top.php (approx. line 25)

// Set the local configuration parameters - mainly for developers
 if (file_exists('includes/local/configure.php')) include('includes/local/configure.php');

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
