Customer create account problem

When i tried to create a customer account, an error message appears "Your First Name must contain a minimum of 2 characters." even though the no. of characters in the first name field is more than 2 characters.

 

Under the OsCommerce Admin - Configuration - Minimum values, the min. value for First name is set as "2". If I set the value to "0", the account can be created but the first name entered would disappear and be lost (don't see it when customer edit particulars and I can't see it in Admin).

 

Please kindly advise on what could be the problem.
