ke-inc Posted June 6, 2008 Share Posted June 6, 2008 Hello, this is for all newbies and non-programmers out there! Please stay away from the latest Oscommerce release version: 2.2rc 2a!! If possible, by all means install the older version of the Oscommerce instead. This is because, with some of the greatest contributions and addons ever written before, alot of them were specifically writeen for the older version of the oscommerce. I really struggled trying to install some of the most important contributions, such as product sort, or adding cvv to the credit card fields, yet failed with tons of time wasted!! I then realized from reading various forums that the latest Oscommerce release has updated alot of codings, making many great contributions no longer able to work with, unless other generous people come along later to update on the coding to fit Version 2.2rc 2a. But trust me, it will take a long long time before all these great addones are upgraded to fit 2.2rc 2a. So what i did was finding an older version of Oscommerce. And sure enough, ALL (or most of) the great contributions and addons ever created worked flawlessly with no problems!! If you are relative new to e-commerce, a newbie, or someone who just wants to build something from ground up, I suggest that you go with the older version of Oscommerce instead. One thing I did learn early on - and the hard way - is to actually try to understand the contribution before committing to its installation!
