Draeisme Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on my old site. I have redesigned it now. For the first time i am conscious of white space and making everything eye friendly. My main focus now is heavy marketing of my eBooks especially the eBook on saving gas. Please if you have any comments/suggestions let me know whether they be good or bad, just as long as they are productive :-) By the way, how is my checkout process? http://www.raysebookshop.com/catalog/
DataMouse Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Nice site. Very simple to navigate. A few queries/suggestions from me: 1. Checkout is good. Like the way that it automatically logs you in to your account. 2. Your background gradients are a little off. The product header on the home page (the orange one) repeats itself, and doesn't look great. Maybe switch to a top to bottom gradient, so it can expand. 3. Like the SEO header and URL. That'll help teh spiders. 4. Product http://www.raysebookshop.com/catalog/made-easy-p-78.html - do you have resell rights, as this is actually free from Brad Callen? 5. There are no enlarge image links. Is this right? Danny I had a blind date last night. Her name was ..:. :.: :: .. ::. :. ::. Black Web 2.0 Buttons Blue Orb Web 2.0 Buttons Mac "Aqua" Buttons Black Gloss Buttons Red Gloss Buttons (with metal edging)
Draeisme Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 Thanks Danny. I will work on that homepage gradient, it definitely can look better. I don't like the enlarge images, i had it before, but with the pictures being a nice size i don't really need it. Nice site.Very simple to navigate. A few queries/suggestions from me: 1. Draeisme Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Another change. I changed the product listing from multiple columns, to just 1 column. I think it is easier on the eye, and the customers can see the products easier, especially if there are a lot. I also took a big leap of faith. I moved my shop from /catalog/ to root. I added a 301 redirect to .htaccess to strip catalog from all the old links. I hope moving them from catalog will speed up the indexing and have other SEO perks. My next job is adding pictures to bestsellers page. What do you guys think about the site? feedback is greatly appreciated.
lindsayanng Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 every category says ebooks after it except fun and hobbies.. are they still ebooks?? if you ONLY sell ebooks, then i would take ebooks off the categories as it SHOULD be obvious.. if not, then i guess you are fine, but be a little more clear about that. you FAQ is not propery redirecting i would get rid of the account created successfully. It is a USELESS page and am finding that it annoys customers. You only have paypal as a payment option?? You should atleast get paypals website payments pro account. Its $20/month plus a discount rate (a percentage they take per order) but your customers never have to leave your site, and they dont even know they are using paypal.. they just put their account info in. winslowmr Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Nice design job! I noticed a typo in your slogan: "All eBooks are delivered instanstly 24hrs a day 7 days a week." instanstly should be "instantly". Other than that, looks like you've done a good job...
georgec Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Nitpicking here... - Some of the boxes have 1px border all around them, including the orange header, some of them only have it around the main part of the box (compare featured items, center infobox and your categories, bestsellers boxes) - Get rid of the default ecommerce icons: http://www.raysebookshop.com/product_thumb...p;w=56&h=40 - search field and search button do not line up... that's because of the button image. Either play with the vertical size of it or put these two in a separate table. e.g. <table><tr><td valign="middle"><? search form here?></td><td valign="middle">button img here</td></tr></table> or something like that - Create Account... Your password should be inside the new customer's box otherwise its unclear.. do I enter the password? or do I just fillin my name, email and one will be emailed to me. - Newsletter checkbox - make it checked by default. - Ordering: the slider w/yellow bullet underneath the "Confirm Order"... would help if it has some text next to each step otherwise there's no point in having it. Also, i think you have one on top as well (Checkout Progress) - George Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on my old site. I have redesigned it now. Guest Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 There is no need for your help page to go https. I got the secure insecure warning on that page. No privacy, about us, conditions of use, shipping, returns, etc. Like the basic design.
