Running 2.2-MS2 with MYSQL 5

I would like to fix the problem I am having with my current store version 2.2 MS2. My hosting provider switched to MYSQL 5.0.45 on a linux 2.6.23.14/apache server, php version 4.4.7 (zend 1.3.0) and now my store is not working.

 

I have applied some fixes as identified in other posts to no avail.

 

Can I upgrade to version 2.2 RC2 or do I need to go to rc1 then rc2.

 

My customer's store has been down for 2 weeks and we need to get it back.

 

I am not a programmer so details are always appreciated.
