Guest Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 My site is currently with a U.S. hosting company (hostexcellence), but my .com domain is registered in the U.K. and this is pointed at the american server. I am marketing to the U.K. only and am concerned that the googlists see the U.S. servers and won't bring me up on a U.K. only search. At my host there are a number of folders in the root. One of them is mydomain.com folder and within that contains the catalog and the admin folders. I have come to understand that the admin folder should be inside the catalog folder, but this particular hosting company supplied OSCommerce as part of its plan and that's just the way they do it. Has anyone emigrated OSC from U.S. to U.K. and, if so, with what pitfalls? Help much appreciated.
Guest Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hi Paul I recently moved servers and the easiest way I found to do it was to backup your database and download it from your admin/backups folder. Then copy all your files from your existing store. Set up your new host by creating the database and uploading the files onto the new server, what is useful is to put the correct information in the two configure.php files - one in includes and one in admin - if in doubt get this from your host. Now copy the database backup into your install directory, rename it oscommerce.sql and upload this onto the new server. Now when you run the setup file as you would when starting from scratch you will import all your existing database information. Once up and running rename or delete the install file from the server. Hope this helps
