How to Insert columns

I would like to add a black column to both sides of my page, can someone tell me how I can do this or if it's possible? Thanks

There are way too many unknown conditions of yours to give you a definitve answer, but if you are using unmodified osC code, try using one of the 'store centering' contributions.

Sorry for not giving enough information but yes this is your standard osC packages unmodified. Is there a way to put this standard page inside a html sheet within a table? That way I could use the table to do as I want it to do. I will look at the 'store centering' contributions as you suggest.
