Possible to create products on the fly?

We're currently working on script that will enable a customer to choose parts from a drop down list then they get to choose whether they want the parts assembled by themselves or if they want us to assemble it for them...if they choose to have us assemble it for them...is there a way to create a new product on the the fly and this product ID will basically included the total price for the all the items + us assembling the product for them...so this will create a new unique product ID with the price being the total of all the parts + our assembly cost and the description of the item being all the parts included in the build ... is there any module/addon that will assist us with this??

Yes, it is possible to add a product like that but it is a lot of work. I think the product attributes would do this for you though. It might take some additional coding if you wanted to offer one or the other but it would be minor since everything else is handled by the attribute system.

There are many posts on how to use them here on the forums. This page explains how but the layout will be different from yours so you have to adjust for that. The procedure is the same though.
