macmizer
I have installed the following per a reference from GLCustoms here on oscommerce forums: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5743 It is called Gift Voucher (GV) and Discount Coupons (DC) for RC1, RC2, RC2a Luckily I had installed a brand new fresh copy of Ver 2.2 RC2 so all I had to do was overwrite files. I did so and loaded the sql tables that came with it. But when I follow the instructions to install a Discount coupon and it seems that this add on has alot less features then I would expect for a discount coupon feature. I can't even assign the coupon to a specific product or category or limit how long the coupon is good for. Furthermore, I do not see anything in the admin interface that pertains to Gift Voucher. This contrib refers to Gift Voucher and Discount Coupons. Where is the Gift Voucher config? Why does the discount coupon seem so limited? I do believe he has some help section about it on his site. But as far as I have seen, that is the only version that will work with an RC version. The other gift voucher mods do not send the discount values thru the checkout process nor do they show the name of the coupon in admin after you create it (only on RC versions). They can be made to work though but it takes a fair knowledge of the checkout process. And the name not showing up is a simple array issue with sql 5. You may want search for the MS2.2 version on sourceforge if the contribution you installed doesnt offer enuff. I dont know what all it does, I just know it was created by a trusted source and he says it works with RC versions. Quote Follow the community build: BS3 to osCommerce Responsive from the Get Go! macmizer
All of my contributions get updated as time goes on, so at some point in the future this contributin will be "finished" (if you can apply the word "finished" to code)...however, working on free contributions is not a priority as I am sure you can understand. If code was not released unfinished, there would be no oscommerce, let alone contributions that are not the perfect fit for you! Can you imagine is HPDL only ever released code that was "finished"? It's impossible. Realise this. The beauty of Open Source code means that you can take what you have and make it the perfect fit for you. And if you do not have the skills to do that, then you can give the code to any good developer and he or she will make it the perfect fit for you. I would hope that any updates that you or your coder make would be contributed back to the project. Yes I do understand about working on free contributions. ;-) Just wanting to make sure that I understand what the code was supposed to do. So does this mean there is no such feature yet in the code called Gift Voucher? Can someone confirm that I am correct in my evaluation of the feature set for the Discount Coupon piece? Rob.
