Blizna Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Hi, Im looking for simple payment way - bank transfer. Customer would get unique order ID that he would attach to bank transfer (as variable symbol) but I cant find anything. If someone knows, I would be really grateful! Thanks Quote

Blizna Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 (edited) Sam: why unsafe? Here its standard method of payment - you pay through your ebanking to merchants account and they will send the package when the payment is recieved. But every shop gives you some variable that identifies that is your payment - at least I dont know how to retrieve order ID. Edited June 1, 2008 by Blizna Quote
spooks Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Here, if youi pay by bank transfer there is no recompense for any failures, ie if merchant fails to supply there is nothing you can do, pay by credit card and if merchant fails to supply the credit card firm will refund. There have been many cases way fraudsters have persuaded people to buy with bank transfer for this very reason. totalnumpty Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Sam - your queries are off-topic and not helpful to the OP, but such as they are, I will give you some insight First, remember not every seller and buyer are the same - I have many "trade" buyers who have bought off me for years, who pay by online banking transfer in response to email quotes - this provides me with instant funding for "purchase to order" and "manufacture to order" situations. It also allows for faster despatch for a number of reasons related to how we trade. Second, we sell globally - truly globally - and there are a long list of countries from which I don't want to receive Western Union, MoneyGram etc. Bank Transfer is far more secure, and usually cheaper for the buyer and ourselves. It also allows a (longwinded admittedly) buyer address verification in case of any final delivery issues. Third, for very small purchase values, bank transfer (within the EU) is cheaper than any of the merchant services or online payment processors - since january this year, any EU resident can transfer to any other EU resident (regardless of country) at local bank transfer charges rates - e.g. UK to UK bank transfer is free, now UK residents can transfer to Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia or wherever for free, and those countries can transfer back at their own countries local transfer rates - usually also free, or just pennies. That WILL seriously affect the preference for online payment and CC/DC card payments as awareness grows. Preparing NOW is the smart move. OP - I've forgotten the contrib number, but there's a bank transfer contrib module that works very well, and the output to the customer is configurable in the language file, allowing you to add the order or invoice number into the text email sent to the customer - you can add instruction to include that as the payment reference. It's a while since I implemented it, but look for the simplest/shortest/easiest bank transfer module for either UK or Europe (can't remember which it was) and you'll be on the right track - I think it may have been the BACS/IBAN one, but it's easily duplicatable for worldwide and TT transfers Gaz Quote Wearing a seatbelt prevents head injuries when the computer crashes - - - Yeah Right!!! - not in this office.
