sam.woolner Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I have a Windows hosted web domain not a Linux one so I can't set Linux permissions on the images folder etc. Will this affect me in the future? Should I change to a Linux account. Is anybody else using a Windows hosted domain without any problems? Many thanks Sammi
Jack_mcs Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 You can set the status of the file/directory on a Windows server so that is not a problem. Oscommerce will run on a Windows server but there will be problems you run into. Switching to a Linux server would save you a lot of aggravation overall. I called them last night ans they dont allow changing of ANY permissions on a windows hosted doamin so my options seem to be switch to a fasthosts linux account or switch hosting companies but thats gonna be a lot of hassle so my question is do you think a linux account by fasthosts will be appropriate? If you have to stay with them, then switch to the Linux server.
