Hi please checkout my site the pens are turned are craft by me and crafted entirely by hand from exotic woods and other natural materials deer antler, snake skin, exotic woods.

Any comments on the site would be great and will be used to enhance the site.

When it first loaded I thought bright clear site, nice, then the header arrived and it all went dark.

 

What would it look like with a white back ground rather than a very stepped halo effect?

 

I have to keep adjusting the angle of my portable screen to read things in the header and footer.

 

Why does Wierd have a capital letter?

 

The pen pictured here has 24k gold plated furniture with Parker style refill and have been turned in a blue acrylic and polished to high standard

What is a blank?

 

Information on Commissioned Pens. is repeated on sucessive lines.

 

3 x N/A is not very professional looking and high gloss polish should be capitlaised to match your other categories.

 

Couldn't find where you are located so wouldn't buy from you even if you "will do our upmost to resolve your problem."

 

No phone no either.

 

Can't read your footer as the contrast between dark and darker is not very obvious, get rid of no of requests and the date.

 

Why have a languages and a currency box with only one value available?

 

Big jump in colours/style between first page and the shop. The background blue on page one could be used as the category ackground in the shop.

 

Colour gradient around the shop is stepped rather than a gradual gradient.

 

What do I like about the site, normally I say get the product you sell on the first page but for your product I think this style works.

 

That should give you something to go on. :-)

Make your store match your front-end template. I believe that's the monochrome template - I use this on a site too, it's nice. Then you get to the oscommerce part of your store and it's better than most oscommerce stores, but a let-down compared your front end.

Home Page is awesome! I really like the theme, layout and info. ;)

 

Then you lost me a little when I entered the catalog - black and grays, but it's still a nice layout.

 

• Why manufacturers, language and currency infoboxes? There's nothing to change.
  
• Should use a thumbnail contribution as the pages loaded super slow on my dialup.
  
• No meta tags or search friendly URL's.
  
• On your catalog/index.php page you have a line - "Online documentation can be read at the osCommerce Knowledge Base site." and the link points to "http://www.turnedpens.co.uk/contactus" which does not exsist. I would lose the above line.
  
• On the same page below the line mentioned above you have this - "Commission us to craft your pens Contact Us." which again points to the non-exsistant page.
  
• Conditions of Use page empty.
  
• I might cleanup the black footer a bit: lose the request counter, center the copyright & Powered by, lighten up the links (Turnedpens & osCommerce) a little and change the hover color other than black. Then set (and make bigger) the Designed by link on the left. Not sure why that link points to a Key West tourist site?? That should make the footer a little thinner/not so tall.
  
• Oh a biggy... replace the stock images for the notifications and reviews infobox. They just don't go nice with your theme.

Thanks for your all you comments, these comments are essential to me as I use these to fine tune the site I'm in no way a pro designer just dabble a bit so I do stuggle a bit. I will take all your comments on board and hopefully correct all of them.

 

by the way a blank is the item to be turned ie wooden blank,snake blank, deer antler blank, and so on

I guessed that, but you should change it so potential customers will understand.

 

We can also make custom pens from wood, deer horn, steel .......

Hi sLaV I have a feeling that I did remove the install directory on the initial setup of OS, supanames.co.uk who are my hosting company they have some problems with FTP on my server and they are trying to resolve this, frustrating for me I can tell ya,

Glad you like the site sLaV I was in the middle of running through the list that the other guys had kindly left me and getting most of the comments changed.
