Hi anyone and everyone, i feel that i might become a pest on these boards as i havnt got started yet and i'm lost!

I have paid my money to a web hosting company that came with the oscommerece package included. i have access to a cpanel, and i chose Fantastico to load my oscommerce cart.

my site is http://scaledetail.co.uk/scaledetail/ and come s with a warning that i havnt a clue about. i am a complete novice who knows practically nothing.

how do i deal with that security issue?

and can i get my shops address to be simply 'http://scaledetail.co.uk' without the '/scaledetail/' on the end? I take it i need for it to end in '/index.php', but how?

please forgive my ignorance on such matters

cheers

all the best

-Keith

You have installed osc to a directory which is why you have to enter that directory to see it. You don`t need to point to a index file as the browser will do that by default.

You can put a index file in your route to redirect to your catalog, or use .htaccess

The error simply means you`ve not set file permissions.

Cheers spooks, all i had to do was write "index.php" into the box instead of "scaledetail" when using Fantastico to install it, all done now.

as for the other stuff, i'll read through the link you gave and probably come back later when i cant work it out!

thanks again
