true1234 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Hi, I've tried a dozen times, but a backup I created in OSCommerce doesn't do anything (wont restore) Here's what I am doing: 1) Go to tools 2) I find the file and click on restore. Then either nothing happens, or I get directed to the admin login screen. I log in. Nothing happens I can try restoring the file from my desktop, or from my backups folder in my oscommerce site... and no luck no matter what I do. I am about to start again from scratch, but has anyone been able to successfully restore a backup ever? thanks
Guest Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 i'm having the same issue, and it appears to have restored back to the original default database, I cannot get my backup I took yesterday to restore can anyone assist

Jan Zonjee Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 i'm having the same issue, and it appears to have restored back to the original default database, I cannot get my backup I took yesterday to restore can anyone assist Without knowing what error has caused the failure of the backup restore it is close to impossible to tell anybody what to do to solve the problem. There might be an error log somewhere (ask your hosting provider). You could try Database backup manager but backups made with it do not contain the database structure for the table sessions and whos_online. No problem for a restore over an already existing database but if you use it to transfer to another database it is something to keep in mind (needs to be added manually then).
true1234 Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Thanks. I started over and am back up & running. In the future, I'm simply going to FTP the entire site to a local file, as the Oscommerce backup doesn't backup image files, etc. anyway. It's good protection anyway.
