Hi!

 

Just a quick question about functionality of osCommerce. Lets say I have a music shop. When a customer gets to the product_info.php page, I would like them to be able to listen to a music sample after clicking on the CD cover picture. In other words, I want to change the "Click to enlarge" functionality into "Play sample". Also when the customer browses the categories or sub-categories there should be a button that allows them to listen to a sample.

 

Are these things doable?

Thanks Sam. Maybe I should have been more specific. Although I was asking "a quick question" I was hoping for a more detailed answer. Firstly, I need this to be doable dynamically without hard-coding sample links and uploading samples separately. There is no back-end support for this kind of thing in osCommerce and the contributions that remotely resemble the kind of behavior I am looking for are two to four years old. So I was wondering if someone could point me towards contributions that can do this. All I need is to be able to display a dynamically linked button in product listings and product infos that would play a 15-30 second sample from a full song. And if the song is part of an album, than I also need a tick box or something that would allow the purchase of the whole album by either downloading it or by purchasing it on a CD.

I havent seen anything to do this, an aproach I would look at is:

 

An album as category or sub-category, product as tracks, then use the url in product description for link to sample which is applied to button in product_info.php or product listing.

 

I don`t think you will be able to avoid doing some coding yourself, other than an arrangement with coder.
