Sessions outside of Cart

In version 2.1 I had been adding the shopping cart box to pages outside

of the shopping cart simply by including the following files into my pages:

 

includes/application_top.php

includes/boxes/shopping_cart.php

 

I am attempting to do the same thing with 'osCommerce 2.2-CVS' but the

current session seems to dissappear and the shopping cart is empty

when I return to oscommerce after viewing the page. How do I maintain

session state on these other pages? I have spent most of the day digging

through the code but cannot seem to grasp this.
