dream74 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Hi - If I install a new template what will happen to all the settings on my already established site? I want them to all remain the same, I just want to change the look. Will all my payment details, products etc etc remain set-up? Are there complications of installing a new template? Also - is there anyway of fiddling about with the template and getting the look right before I add it to my site? Cheers :)

dream74 Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 Some templates install a fresh site (code and db) but also provide the information to allow you to change your current code / images to change the look. http://info.template-help.com/after_sale_s...c/article3.html Thanks for that - thats helpful. I dont suppose you know if this product on ebay would allow me to do this? I guess you dont know if you dont have it. What are the chances of me being able to just use the template style/images etc and swap them with the current ones and for it to all work ok? Any advice? I just dont want to mess stuff up!
burt Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 That product on eBay is a bunch of designs that were stolen from Template Monster and are illegal. Would you want to use illegal templates on your (presumably important) ecommerce site. The way to modify the look of an existing oscommerce site is to learn the in's and out's of the oscommerce structure and design capabilities. I've sent you a link which might help (it's a commercial link and so it should not be posted on the forum). Oh, and you'll also want to mirror your site onto your home computer so that any changes you make won't stuff up the live site! I've sent you an easy link for that too.
dream74 Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 ooops...sorry shouldnt have added link - sorry ddidnt realise :-( Also didn't realise they were stolen...thats not good OSCommerce seems to have very few decent free templates.
Guest Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 OSCommerce seems to have very few decent free templates. It does not need them.
