arietis Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Customers need to receive important status updates on their orders via e-mail. However, these notifications are going directly to the spam folder (atleast in Yahoo) What can I do about this??? your store's ip address may be on a dns block list (dnsbl). if you're on a shared server and another domain on the server is sending spam, this can cause your ip address to be added. and the list maintainers generally don't want to remove you because the spammer will just go back to work. i don't know which one (ones) yahoo uses for spam detection (there are many). you can try doing a google search on your ip address. they sometimes show up in those block lists. another thing that might cause this is your store domain is 'mydomain.com' and you're sending emails with a from address of '[email protected]'. yahoo will see that the ip address of the sender (mydomain.com) doesn't match the email domain of yahoo.com and start thinking that it's spam. sending mail from [email protected] can fix this. your best bet may be to change the message displayed when someone signs up as a new customer. remind them to place your email address in their 'safe list'. i don't know that there's much more you can do.
