How to install a new skin over default

I just recently bought a oscommerce skin and I have not found any site with info on how to just install a new skin and not the actual site itself. Could anyone please help me with a link to some instructions or just explain it. I bought a template monster package if that helps.

Also once installed is it easy to change the colors of the layout?

As you purchased from Template Monster, you need to get all of your help from Template Monster.

As soon as you install the template, there are not many people here who will help you.

OR

Take a new install of RC2a. Install STS. Follow the STS tutorial to integrate the LOOK/THEME (not the actual Template MOnster files) into osCommerce. Then you might get some help.

Cut a long story short - you pay Template Monster your money, you get support from them - unless you can find someone kind (or dumb) enough to help you!

I figured most people where kind enough to just help me anyways :\ I found the STS tutorial maybe I will just try that.

Sorry Kevin ... everyone here seems a bit grouchy today... :-"

Sounds like maybe there is some animus against Template Monster. I can understand the suggestion that Kevin go to them for help, but not the advice that Kevin will be shunned if he installs it.

Can anyone answer Kevin's question about STS?

I just figured since I had oscommerce in my cpanel I could get some help here, so what I bought a template from TM I am not a designer... thank you for your kindness Woods, hopefully I can get this all figured out.

I like it when people buy Template Monster templates - don't get me wrong.

If I had time, I'd help you all day long with Template Monster stuff, but it's not allowed on the forum as anything commercial (such as Template Monster) is strictly controlled by the moderators. Simple as that.

Ok so your telling me that if some one designed a template for OSC no one here would help them? What kind of PR are they after? I have used OSC forever always using the default skin but I finally wanted a better look and now OSC hangs me out to dry thats nice.

I'm not sure what problem there is - commercial products (such as Template Monster templates) are not allowed to be discussed on the forums. However, if someone makes a template and then uploads it as a freebie to the osCommerce add-ons section, I see no reason why support could not be given in these forums.

Basically - if you download an osCommerce add-on from an external site, you need to go back to the external site to get support - this is especially true if the add-on you got is commercial (like a template).

Hence my advice. Use your TM template, but integrate the look of it yourself using the STS system - at least then you'll be able to say "yes, it's a template, but I integrated it myself, and now I'm stuck on XYZ, could someone help me" - I think you'll get a response from helpful people, without the moderators getting too bothered about it.

Consider that templates (especially those from Template Monster) changes lots of the base code of osCommerce and those changes are usually not good at all.
