Orders not shown, Shopping Card still with items

The order confirmation page redirects the customer to a bank's secure server, where the transaction is made. However in the admin panel still shows as if the customer hasn't any orders and when he logins to his account, he gets the message "You have not purchased anything yet". Also the shopping cart has the items that he purchased, so the next time he logs in and tries to buy something new, old items are included to his order.

The strange thing is that before I start using the redirection to the bank system, all orders were recorded and I used to receive an e-mail for every order. Now I don't. Is there any way to fix this? Please help!
