Help making the most basic a store as I can have!

Hi everyone,

I hope some folks here can help me, as I am looking for some guidance. Perhaps with osCommerce I may be trying to kill an ant with a bazooka, but I am looking to start a store on my website in which I can sell my photography prints. I want it to be bare bones, as my items will be VERY limited. Is there any contributions on this site to REDUCE the number of options on this program, or should I be looking into different options? I don't want to have categories, reviews, searches, or any other..... can someone help me out with this???

Hi Andy,

By looking at the number of people who have viewed your message, I can only presume that you are not alone in this and I am surprised and a bit disappointed that none of the developers or other members have replied as yet.

I, for one have been breaking my head on this for 2 days now.. trying to get an as simple as possible shop on my site which allows buyers to click on a button and buy only 1 item without having to log in and all the other stuff. I was nearly there and then hit another glitch but never mind that.

I was just contacted by someone telling me to try the zencart instead. If I do have the courage tomorrow, I might just do that.. otherwise I will resort to searching the net a little longer to find another solution.

nothing is ever simple, isn't it ?

Good luck with your search and if I come accross something useful sooner, I will certainly let you know,

Cheers

Chris - Scotland

PS : maybe someone out there should make a SIMPLE shopping cart for people like you, me, and many many others !

If wanting something that simple, why not just use paypal Buy Now buttons. The client does not have to sign in and they just checkout through a virtual cart.

They can pay with Credit Cards and you do not have to pay a monthly merchant fee.

Just an idea.

Those can be removed.

If you want to remove certain boxes go here -> http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/C...g_Area/Boxes/66

Maybe you don't want those boxes, just remove the columns.

Try here -> http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/C...g_Area/Boxes/65

Clint, I HAD buy it now buttons on my site but the problem with Paypal is that it does not update your stock. In my case of one of a kind pieces, after someone has bought the item, the button is still there and allows another buyer to buy the item again. Unless I take the button off manually - presuming that I am on standby at the computer after each payment - people can keep buying that item.

That is why I was looking into Os Commerce...

when you add your products using admin/cartegories, just list as quantity 1, then when this is sold the option to buy is automaticlly removed so no one else can buy this item.
