making progress but need some syntax help

I have searched on this an many other related issues but still no luck

line 33 default.php

what should this be its causing this error:

Fatal error: Failed opening required 'includes/languages//default.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/html/store/catalog/default.php on line 33

You should have a language between the double quotes pointed out by the bold HERE below:

Fatal error: Failed opening required 'includes/languages/HERE/default.php'

I'm not sure why it's coming up blank, but I believe that the language to use is determined in /catalog/includes/application_top.php. Functions within application_top.php use functions included in /catalog/includes/classes/language.php

With that said, are you certain you have configure.php configured properly? You should also check to see if you have the following files:

/catalog/includes/application_top.php

/catalog/includes/classes/language.php

You might want to post the pertinent entries from configure.php here.

I have both of the files, and oddly enough most of the admin is now working since i filled in english. php in the admin folder. i wish there was more clear documentation of the specific things you need to do after install. or maybe its because its a cvs version. anyways below is configure.php and application_top.php. thanks for all your help.

I noticed something odd about your configure.php:

Your document root is stated here as /var/www/html:

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/var/www/html');

Your physical path to the catalog is:

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/var/www/html/store/catalog/');

Yet your virtual path to the catalog is:

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/catalog/');

Where exactly is your /catalog directory? Under /var/www/html/store or /var/www/html? These don't match up....verify all your paths.

It appears you changed the default entry for DIR_FS_CATALOG....I recommend you set it back to:

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT . DIR_WS_CATALOG);

This will build the path by joining the values of the document root and the catalog folder. If the physical path to the catalog folder is /var/www/html/catalog, leave it as is. If it's /var/www/html/store/catalog, change it to:

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/store/catalog/');

Make sure your paths are correct for the /admin/includes/configure.php as well.
