Stock tracing ability

hi folks. I'm running a shop under osCommerce for a year or so. It is quite good solution so far, I feel comfortable with that. However the thing that makes me nervouse is that in this engine I didn't actuall find an ability to keep warehouse data.

I mean I sell some stuff... so I keep ordering it from some supplier, then keep it in my warehouse.... Then people order them from me, products on stock goes lower... Then I order it again and so far. My problem is that osC can't track this things (or can it?), so what is the best way to achive this? Are there some modules/contributions? Or maybe there is some open source system that is also compatible with osC?

I mean you understand what I want?

1. Order from supplier 5 t-shirts

2. People ordering, t-shirts are going lower

3. I order 5 more

4. I see new quantity

5. If I open cetain page I see when this product was supplied from supplier, when and how many I sent and so on...

It will be good to keep track of orders, so reporting is possible

If you login to your admin, then click on Configuration then Stock

On that page set;

Check stock level: true

Subtract stock: true

Allow Checkout: false

It's supposed to track the stock, and not let people order if the stock goes to zero.

On that page is also a field for Stock Re-order level

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Cool. But does it keep history of supplies? Where I actually update the stock level?

I guess I don't understand what exactly you want osC to do.

You tell it you have 20 (or whatever number) "widgets" to sell, and it keeps track of how many are sold.

And it won't allow people to order what you don't have in stock should your stock get depleted before you order more.

So, exactly what is it NOT doing that you want it to?

But does it keep history of supplies?

Not sure what you mean there?

I want to be able update stock level when supplier sent me products that are running out. also when people order products and I mark an order as sent (or something similar) the stock level goes lower. then sometimes I want to have a look which product I sell/order more

possible: yes/no?

You do that manually.

Or you might be abe to do that with the Easy Populate contribution (not sure about that).

The rest - I have no clue,
