If your website is not backed up by your webhosting company is it totally lost?

A web developer in another country who I am unable to contact developed my site. I have no clue as to how it was done. He hosted my site with 1and1. I changes my package and nw the files have been deleted. Is there any possible way to get my site back from oscommerce or is it lost forever?

OSC will not have a back up, have you gotten in touch with 1 and 1 to see if there is one there?

They should keep back ups, but willmore than likely charge for it.

I would say that you may have lost it.

 

you should always make your own backups of the site files and the databases. This is not a complicated process through cpanel.
