Updating my version of Oscommerce

Hi all,

I've had Oscommerce installed and running for over a year and throughout that time I've made a lot of changes to the php code with the use of many 'contributions'. My hosting provider keeps asking me to upgrade my version so it can be more compatible with their upgraded PHP/MySql servers in order to speed my load times. I'm very apprehensive about doing this since I don't want to affect my current setup.

 

Some answers I'd be looking for:

 

1-How can I tell what version I currently have (I think it's at least 2.x)

 

2-What files would an upgrade overwrite?

 

3-How difficult would it be to upgrade?

 

4-What should I look out for when upgrading to make sure all my contributions/hacks/tweaks are still working?
