anant Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I have problem with a new OScommerce installation. I after inputting the correct admin user name and password, even then the expected OS admin page is not displayed, (instead the same "user login" page is displayed.) 1) I have installed OS with the help of Autoconfiguration script provided by my web hosting site. 2) I have checked "post installation" instructions and corrected file permision for 444 as needed. 3) able to see my website. 4) I then tried to log in to the admin page. The system accepts the password, but there is No change on the screen display. The same login page is displayed again. 5) When I input wrong password, "Error" prompt is displayed. 6) I tried removing and reinstalling/installing the software with the different subdomains names/directory, but the same problem persist. Can you please provide me some direction or let me know whom to contact. I have tried to find out any solution to this problem in FAQ, and the forum area, but have not been successful.

When I was born, I was cryed and everyone around me was smiling. Live our life so at the end, I am the one who is smiling and everyone around me is crying.
anant Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 is there a .htaccess file present??or do empty Administrator table after that the admin login page will ask you a new user and pdw. fill this form and try login. Thank you. 1) Yes. I could see .htaccess file (969 bytes) - consisted of all #ed lines in the file. 2) I can see administrators.php file, and could locate "Table_administrator" text. I do not know what do you mean by "do empty administrator" table. I am not familiar with php. How to do it?

netgroupone Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I have problem with a new OScommerce installation. I after inputting the correct admin user name and password, even then the expected OS admin page is not displayed, (instead the same "user login" page is displayed.) if you have cpanel: just login to your cpanel, go to Password Protect Directories and update user info or just create new one.
anant Posted May 17, 2008 Author Posted May 17, 2008 if you have cpanel: just login to your cpanel, go to Password Protect Directories and update user info or just create new one. I tried your suggestion. updated/created new user info at Password Protect Directories. and added info. But still problem at the "OS administraor Login page" has not gone. 1) The change that occured is that when I go to the OS web site admin page, It prompts me for User name and password. once I go through it 2) Then the normal "OS Online Administrator Login" page is displayed. 3) when again user name and password info is provided, the same "Online Administrator" login is displayed. 4) if I input the wrong username or password, an error is displayed with the same login page "Error: Invalid administrator login attempt". Any further clues why this might be happening?
netgroupone Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 What version of oscommerce are you using? where did you get it? does it have contributions added to it?

anant Posted May 25, 2008 Author Posted May 25, 2008 delete all users to the admin and remove password protection on the directoy using the Password Protect Directories on cpanel and check if you can get to the admin area. I am not sure how to locate and delete users to the admin? any hints. Has it to do with accessing MYSQL database? I can remove password protection on the directory, because initially it was not there and I did only attempted it since OS forum suggested that.
anant Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 delete all users to the admin and remove password protection on the directoy using the Password Protect Directories on cpanel and check if you can get to the admin area. I have trialled most steps so far suggested by the forum members, but still problem has not gone. I am still have got the same problem as orginal one. With the all suggetion go 1) I addded file password protection 2) I removef file password protection 3) DELETED all users to the admin. 4) inputted new information on the admin page for new password ste-up. 5) again log in to the admin page and still the same admin log in page is displayed. Is there any critical issues during installation where OSCOMMERCE seems to be very sensitive? or this is Permenant Roadblock for me?
