KiddlyWinks Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I was reading a topic where it informs you of all the usual questions and lists all the solutions for you. Following these instructions I changed my header title and date format on the homepage and now when I try to view my website it is 'blank' as in completely 'blank' not a single word or picture!!! Can anyone shed some insight on how this could have happened and how I can fix it?? Thanks Sarah
KiddlyWinks Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 I made these changes by going into 'Tools', 'File Manager', 'Includes', 'Languages', 'English'. I'm still new to this site so hope I have made the changes in the right place!!
spax Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 The File Manager is notorious for doing strange things to the code. I don't know if it has improved with RC2 but generally, should be avoided. When editing any file, you should download it to your PC, make the changes in a good text editor, then upload it again after renaming the file on your server. Renaming the original file on the server means you have a quick back track, should the changes not work. Incidentally, you should have a full file set as a backup on your PC anyway. You never know when something could go wrong server side. For your immediate problem, check the file you edited in a text editor to see what, if anything, has happened.
