Plus you need to try to understand some basic html, php and mysql. 4. Very, even easier if you install the right contribution. Historian Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 hi thanks for the reply is there any free skins that i can get to work with oscommerce? As for the merchant accounts what about fruad? can u point me to some where where i can look into fees and so forth for accepting credit cards as i dont want to pay a huge amount of fees. im willing to invest a lot of time like i have done for this site www.theprophets-guild.com what are the best mods/contributions to use? Thanks very much for your time :D I think Geoffrey was over-simplying when he said there it was very easy to find free skins. There are two basic ways to get the layout/colour scheme that you want. 1. Adapt it yourself. That means changing various files in osCommerce. This is not difficult if you have a basic understanding of HTML (and CSS), but it is time consuming finding your way around the files. There will be a fairly long learning curve. You may find some of the Contributions help http://addons.oscommerce.com/ - for example some people like STS. 2. The other way is to obtain a template, but there are very few free ones around. In practice, many templates have been heavily hacked and it may not be easy to add Contributions to them. Even if you buy a template, you may well find that they are out of date and don't work with the latest programs. Provided you have a little knowledge, then I would suggest 1. If you no knowledge of HTML then pay someone to design and set up your site.
