We own a online CD store since 3 years now, all home-coded, and we decided to switch to an OSC solution in the following weeks. That engine seems okay, lot of features ! Well, I still feel a bit lost on how I will be able to categorize my items. For each CD, I need to enter 3 very important informations : 1. Record Company (Virgin, Universal...) 2. Band (U2, Iron Maiden...) 3. Genre (Rock, Metal, Electronica...) Well, I really don't know for the moment the way I will be able to enter all these data. OSC allows me to enter category/sub category and manufacturers. I can guess that I will consider band as manufacturer and record company as category. But, what about the genre ? Will I be obliged to redefine genre as sub-categories for each company ? On the other side, I can enter genre as category and company as sub, but that's the same thing ! Please note that I want my customers to filter the display by Genre/Band/Records company. I'm in a complete mess since 3 days now. I've searched for solutions in the contrib area but did not find something helpful. THE solution would be to have 2 'manufacturers' for a CD for example. 1 for the company, 1 for the band. In the standard scheme of things, I would have the Manufacturers as the Label, the Categories as Genre and Sub-Cats as Bands/Artistes. Another way, off the top of my head, is to install the More Categories contribution. That way you could have the Genre as the Category heading, Bands/Artistes as Categories and Albums/Singles as Sub-Categories. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Another way, off the top of my head, is to install the More Categories contribution.
