onecoup Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 the server was purchased with a free shared SSL, but when I inquiried about installation of paypal, the server supplier said: You will need to purchase a personal SSL certificate. Please Note, Shared SSL will not function with ASP, JSP or PHP pages. It will function only with html, and cgi/perl based documents/scripts/carts. This is due to security restrictions on the servers. If you require SSL for PHP, ASP or JSP you will need to purchase a personal certificate and dedicated IP. Please help me to understand if this is necessary. thanks in advance. li
Jack_mcs Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 That's the first I've ever heard that but I suppose it is possible. In general, shared ssl's work fine with php but if your hsot won't allow it, then your only choices are to purchase one or move to a host where the shared ssl works as it should.
