Blank product info page after install of Ultra Pics 2.07.01 - incl. STS + CCGV + LightBox

So I installed Ultra Pics 2.07.01 - incl. STS + CCGV + LightBox by replacing all the files that were on the site w/the ones in the zip. I then ran the sql on the database (said it was successful), but now when I load the home page and click on a product nothing comes up (no info, no picture, no errors, just blank). I went to the admin portion where I could view the items in the catalog and the section was blank (I can't see any directories/items, or click new product or anything like that). I have backups of the individual files and a complete backup of the whole site prior to this (it wouldn't really matter if I lost it all anyways since I'm just testing junk for now), but I just can't see what I did wrong in the process to make this happen. Any ideas?

Since I can't make a new item, I can't even see if the multiple pic capability thing works =(

Any ideas of what went wrong or how to fix this? I think tomorrow I'm going to reload the backup and try again, but I have a feeling I'm going to net the same results.

Nate, I can't speak for this bundled version but a blank page usually is a result from either some type of misplaced code or misconfigured shop. Since I'm sure your site functioned properly before the contribution upload and you had all of the default parameters set in the admin, I am left to assume that there is some misplaced code somewhere.

Do this since this is just a "junk site":

Test the contribution

  1. Reinstall osC, don't change anything in the admin
  2. Upload the contribution files over your existing files (this will rule out any bad code from the contribution itself as well as rule out any user errors on your part)
  3. Be sure to run the SQL updates from the contribution again as we have reinstalled osC and the database setup would have erased any of the previous added fields, columns, tables.

Now view your shop to see if everything is OK. If it is, then it simply means that you may have missed some steps in your previous installation.

Hope this helped you out,

Bill Kellum

Well I did a complete fresh install and the first (and only) thing I did was make the changes... Interestingly enough some progress was made... So if I click on a product I now see the products detail information, but when I click on the image lightbox does pop up, but the image never actually loads, I just get the moving loading sign and that's it....

When I went to go to the categories section in Admin, it was again blank (no categories, I can't see anything or add/edit anything). This is probably why the image never loads since just like the admin section it can't see anything. I'm not sure how others aren't experiencing this and I am, the sql says "21 queries executed successfully," and the rest is just replacing the files in the install... Right?

On this install I even deleted the files I was overwriting first (and double checked time stamp to make sure it went through) and I upped the spanish ones too (I normally skip that since I disable that later).

I guess my next step will be to just do another fresh install and just start w/lighbox, and then try to add some multi-picture capability for it. I've got some php tutorial stuff and some oscommerce books on the way so maybe I'll get lucky and be able to find the problem myself in the code (ha!)

I installed this contribution to my site, all be it on a pre production server and found the same problem. I found that if I added a new product everything worked fine, multi pics everything, which lead me to the conclusion I'd have to add all my products again. I also installed to a brand new copy of OsCommerce and found the same thing happened so I not sure if this is a feature

Well you're getting farther than me, in the admin section for categories it's just blank - I can't see any folders/items and I can't add any items, it's just an empty section....

Can you walk me through your install (tell me where your install differed from mine) if you don't mind.

Step 1) replace all the files via ftp

Step 2) run the sql file on the database

Step 3) Check!

I'm just wondering if you ran the sql file first (I wouldn't think that would be correct) - I'm doing a reinstall again right now, this time I'm going to manually do 1 line of the sql queries at a time each by itself, before I was importing the whole file all at once.

Well just did it again, this time manually pasting in one line at a time into the sql query, and again the same result, hmmmm....

Wow, well that's what I get for not reading all of the replies to the contribution. Here's what he said

Hi I am a very noob in OsC (and in english too)

I downloaded latest contrib for ultra pics but had a "Call undefine Function error" about tep_hide_session_id when i accessed the catalog admin.

The reason is that this function is not define in \admin\categories.php (in my distrib ms2 french)

Solution :

Created the

extra_functions.php

file in \admin\includes\functions\

Added line :

<?php require (DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS . 'extra_functions.php'); ?>

in \admin\categories.php

right after

<!--body_text //--> (about line 725)

It Works. Hope it can be useful for noobs like me...

The only difference is in my version it's "<!-- body_text //-->" Seems to work perfectly, but as cmjennings21 said you need to upload all new pictures.
