Newsletter problems

Hi,

Could anyone help me, I have customers that have subscribed to my store newsletter,

 

do I need to use HTML files, to write this newsletter. I have tried using them, but when I went to submit the newsletter, you could actually still see the codes in the newsletter once it was sent.

I think default newsletter is capable of plain text.
