Uploading images to website - sorting

Recommended Posts

I have very limited knowledge of how computers are structured and work - and I have a problem that is driving me mad when I am uploading files to the website. These are the steps I follow (I don't know how to describe them in computer speak), and this will lead to the problem area:

I use my admin access, and want to upload photos to the website.

I go to 'catalogue', select the type of product, and 'add new product'. Ok so far.

Then I enter all the information (book review etc) ok so far.

The I want to upload photos. I use and FTP program to transfer them from my computer to somewhere else. still ok.

I use the 'upload images' button and up comes the cplace where all the photos are kept in separate folders.

This is where the problem is. I have a couple of hundred files in here, and when I upload new ones, they are no longer sorted by date as they used to be, so the newset ones were a the bottom of the list. They are seemingly random.

There is no apparent order and I have to spend far far far too long trying to find th new uploaded folders. Is there any way this list can be sorted - I don't care how -alphetically or date - but it takes ages to go thru the list one folder at at time tom identify the ones I want.

Any help woudl be appreciated. I do have a friedn who is more computer literate than me, so she may be able to figure out a more technical answer than I can -so don't hokd back. Please help - my frustration levels can't withstand this all the time.

The images on a server are usually sorted alphabetically but you may have set them to be by date. Go into a different directory then go back and they should be in order.

Or do you mean something completely different?

Thanks for the reply. That is what I mean. I have tried to go to a different directory and back to the 'books', but mothing changes. No apparent order. and no change.

Depending on the FTP client you use, you should have options for sort order. That would either be by the View link on the tool bar or the options above the view pane window.
