New to osCommerce

Hello,

 

I'm a little confused, in the payments module it says credit cards (not for production). I want our sites to support credit cards payment. Sorry if this has been answered.

"credit cards (not for production)" is for testing

 

you need to now who is going to work the C/C for you then use there mod/Contributions

if it is not preloaded in osCommerce shop then look in http://addons.oscommerce.com/category

Any recommendations (like which modules) there are so many with acronyms and weird ones that I don't know which one will serve for my purposes

The payment modules will work, if you have a merchant account with the module you want to use. You need at least one.

If you want to know which is best for your business, do a search on those payment modules and compare fees,

transaction charges, rates, etc.

 

If you plan to handle credit card information on your site and not use a payment gateway,

The easiest way to handle payments is by choosing a payment gateway, like PayPal or us (ePay Europe). When you choose a payment gateway that is PCI compliant, you don't have to be certified for the PCI standards (and you save A LOT of money).
