New Store - need feedback

Hi guys, I have been working on this for about 2 months now. I need this to go live by mid-May and I was hoping to get some feedback on here first. I am sure I have missed something that needs to be added. The site is not fully populated yet and some images are still missing.

 

Any comments would be appreciated.

I also have a newbie question about google indexing. How do I actually check whether google is indexing my site and how do i check my page rank?

I like it, it in your face with what you sell.

 

You are very upfront with the fact you are an on-line shop but your addresses are splattered all over the place so people can see where you operate from.

 

No products for the first 2 categories.

 

The change in height of the header band and the fact it changes half way across the page jars.

 

Love the combining help centre / about us.

i like the site overall.

 

1) i think you should make the site a little wider though. it seems a little cramped.

2) i like the checkout page. is that Fast easy checkout? also the width is a different size than the rest of your site. i'm assuming because you don't have the columns.

3) the top bar where you have the telephone number and my account links is acting strange on my firefox. the background scrolls as i scroll down your page. it's very strange and annoying to my eyes.

4) i would get rid of the bottom bar that says how many visitors you've had. it kinda lets a customer know how small you are in my opinion.

5) the help center links don't point to their section.

 

and finally...can you get me a good deal on the n95 8gb? lol

 

for google, i suggest you sign up with their webmaster tools

Thanks for your feedback. I only have products in the HTC section bascially. If you click on "HTC Touch Black", you can see a full layout of the product info page as well.

1) Do you like full size pages better? Currently, it is at 900px width. I chose this because most of my big competitors have a similar width. However, I do agree with you that sometimes i feels a little bit cramped. I might be removed the right column on all other pages and only keeping it for the index. What do you think?

 

2) Yes I used Fast Easy Checkout. The width is different because I removed the left and right columns. I learned from a friend that it is important to remove all distraction from the customer during checkout. i.e A customer will very likely click on another product if you show him more products and choices during checkout.

 

3) I am having the problem with the top navigation bar as well. I am really not sure what the problem is. I currently have the following setting on the style sheet for the header navi:

 

background-image: url('images/navigation_bar2.jpg');

background-repeat: no-repeat;

background-attachment:fixed;

background-position: 0px 25px;

 

Do you know what the problem is?

 

4) True. I will probably replace it with terms & conditions and other links.

 

5) Mmmm.. I tested all the links in the help center and it's working fine for me. The topic you want would be at the very very top of the page.

Can you elaborate a bit more on this error code 12263 or how they can duplicate it?

I just tried to check out the link and am getting a 404? Anyway, I got that error before when I was using substruct (some other opensource commerce thing) when the admin side was being forced into https. Not sure but I am guessing you don't have an ssl certificate, or if you do, it's not set up correctly.

 

I think the site looks very nice, i didn't check out the functionality at all.. just wanted to chime in about that error since I tackled it only a few days ago.
