Guest Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 :?: Planning to run an osCommerce store with about 100 products each with a small picture (5-20 kb) probably around 200 visitors a day. I have 40 GIG transfer limit per month on my shared hosting. Is that enough? :?:
mattice Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Yeah that will be more then enough I think. Problem is not datalimit but indeed bandwidth, the amount of data your machine is allowed to use at a certain point. If that is low your site will become slow whenever those 200 visitors decide to visit you all at once. You can tell by looking at your logfiles if there are bottlenecks. Guest Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 According to the hosting company they have this: CONNECTIVITY OVER PUBLIC PEERINGS AND INTERNET-EXCHANGES: LINX London [100 MBit] AMS-IX Amsterdam [1.000 MBit] DE-CIX Frankfurt [2 x 1.000 MBit] INXS [1.000 MBit] MAE-FFM [100 MBit] London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt are the 3 biggest Internet-exchanges in Europe. CONNECTIVITY OVER NETWORK-PROVIDERS AND PRIVATE PEERINGS: Level3 [1000 MBit] Mobilcom [155 MBit] Infonet [155 MBit] Tiscali [155 MBit] I have to say the sites I host off them seem to be quite quick. Hopefully its enough for what I have in mind.
Guest Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 From the specs provided by the hosting company, I'd say you have no problems at all !!!!!
VyReN Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 I wouldn't worry. I'm getting spanked for about 150 visitors every day and our images are HUGE (5-10K each) and I'm running squeaky-clean. -Glen http://www.glaceyar.com
