Please help - probelms after disabling english language

After disabling English language and enabling it again, I can not see product categories nor products in admin panel, although it adds new somewhere..

Please help how to fix this problem, since to start everything from beginning would be a total nightmare...:(

You can not delete a default language without causing issues.

 

You must log into admin and click on the language you choose as your first choice and make that the default language (under edit). Then you can remove the English.

All the descriptions will probably have used a language_id of 1.

 

When you recreated it it now will have an id of say 5. Thus the old descriptions will not be found.

 

Browse product_descriptions to see what the language_id was and change the id on the English record in languages.

 

If it doesn't work you can always change it back.

 

If you have set up loads of descriptions since reinstating english you would lose them.
