sweathers
Hey, As my next project, im looking to build a website for a business. I need the website to have an online catalog, just like that of oscommerce, but without the transaction end of it. Is there a way of going about disabling transactions in oscommerce, or is there a product that someone can reccomend for me to use? I also need the manager to be able to enter new products online, just like oscommerce. Thanks People! jimbo
mattice
How do you mean transactions? Use it as a 'brochure' type of thing? I think that has been done before but will require code changes as all the 'buying' functionality should be taken out. sweathers
Exactly, use it as an online brochure with sections, specials etc etc. And an online admin panel. If OSCommerce isnt well suited, can you recommend something that is? Or even if you could send me to a good website containing a listing of PHP scripts? (ie www.hotscripts.com) thanks jimbo
mattice
osCommerce is the best Open Source shopping cart available in my opinion. I don't know of any 'brochure' type scripts. What you could do with osC is just take out all the buttons that say 'Buy Now' and 'Add to Cart' etc. Then remove the links to check out your order and that will be it. There are also contributions that change prices into 'Call for Price' etc. so you might want to look at that. In any case I'd do a bit of searching on this forum... people have done it before with osC.
