NewBudda Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I know the answer will vary a great deal based on the target market and competitiveness but what do you consider to be a good %? Please name your sector as well as rate to give a better picture. I sell composting bins and have (after 1 week) 0,45% CTR with Adwords. Anyone else? pedgette Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 My overall CTR is 3.19% without the content network and .64% with the content network and google search. I'm not concerned about the content network since it isn't what I focus on. You should probably be more concerned with the overall CTR of your main keywords. My main keywords are hitting between 4 and 15% which I'm happy with, but I'd like to see what others are getting.
rosszero Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 On a very broad, general scale I find from a lot of sites I've managed that the average CTR on PPC is 1%.
desiredin Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 If you are targetting your traffic properly (keywords to ads), you should have much higher CTRs. Out of about 250, my highest is 17.28% Lowest is .25%. But the majority is above 2%. But those lowest ones are old campaigns that I have never really taken a good look at since 2003 when I was starting them. I have been planning on starting over and doing much better targetting those older keywords. But CTR is really a moot point. You can have all the traffic in the world but it isn't going to guarantee sales. Unless your conversions are good, you are just throwing your money and quality traffic away.
NewBudda Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 I was also interested in your sector, as I am sure that there is a strong link between competiveness in your sector and the CTR. Do you agree? Open Source Newsletter: PhPList Open Source Questionnaire: Lime Survey
desiredin Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Unfortunately, that is information that nobody should be revealing. That is the type of information I would love to know about my competitors.
♥FWR Media Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Unfortunately, that is information that nobody should be revealing. That is the type of information I would love to know about my competitors. I don't give a flying ##!@# about click through rates (PPC). Click through rates cost me money. desiredin Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 If I have a higher conversion than my competitors do with the same traffic, you can be sure I am going to want their traffic too. Easiest way besides increasing your ad budgets (wasting more money, which will not matter anyhow depending on search volume in yo industry), is to increase the CTR. Hell, even if I do not have a higher conversion, I am going to want their traffic anyhow. And the best way to invrease CTR is to know what is working for your competitors, and molding your own adds off of theirs.
