Permissions Problem.

Recommended Posts

On my shop website, I have some problems with it. Above the page, it says "Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/benswebs/public_html/benswebsite/shop/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file." I have changed it to different permissions, like 774, 664. But still shows it above the site. And others tell me that its there, but I cant find away to get it out.

It's this file:

Try permissions of "644" first.

If that doesn't work try "444".

If that doesn't work try "400".

If you have to use "444" or "400" that makes the file "read only" even to you and you'll have to change it back to "644" before trying to edit it.

And if you use FTP to alter permissions and it still doesn't work, STOP and login and use the File Manager in your Hosts Control Panel (NOT OSC!).

FTP is famous for NOT accomplishing this task...

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
