BRWG Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Hi everyone, i am currently setting up my store, but as the items are not that expensive the charge of 3%+£0.20 per transaction from paypal is a big loss to profits. Can anyone here list some viable alternatives? I dont mind if it is still a percentage (just a smaller one, or without the +£0.20) or possibly one that has a 1 off setup charge. Any help is appreciated. Thankyou for your time, Karl, BRWG
Jack_mcs Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Paypal is usually the best option for new shops. Other methods require a monthly fee as well as per item fees or the fees are just higher. BRWG Posted May 3, 2008 Author Posted May 3, 2008 Ok, i guess ill just grit my teeth to begin with, and hope i turnover enough to get to the lower paypal pricing ranges.
Jack_mcs Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 The advantage of paypal standard is that you don't pay unless there is a sale. Granted, it is a little more than some other modules but the cost on those being higher means paypal is the best choice. It's the cost of doing business on the web. rosszero Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Paypal may seem costly but its still one of the best in terms of costing and service! A friend I know sells links on his site for a couple pound and the amount paypal takes seems like loads but if you're selling anything more than a fiver than the takings aren't that great in comparison I find.
BRWG Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 Have anyone here ever heard of epay? ( http://uk.epay.dk/main/ ) $40 monththly + 2%, but was wondering if anyone had some experience of this
AlwaysNewbie Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I think that Google Checkout can be an option, look here: http://checkout.google.com/seller/fees.html At least they have no monthly fee charge and transaction fee is even lower than PayPal: 2%+$0.2 vs 2.9%+$0.3. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Probably GC has its own minuses, but it looks like it's not bad. Computers777dotcom
