Image Uploading Problem

Hello

This is all new to me. I'm not sure if anyone can help. We have an online store (www.thebigpicture.coop/shop) but when I've tried to upload new images to the store I'm getting the following error message:

Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /domains/37648/web/shop/images/

The person who created the shop advised it was a hosting / permissions issue, but the hosting company say its nothing they've done, so I'm a bit stuck.

Any help that anyone out there can offer would be gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Please set chmod 777 to the images directory so image can upload on that folder.

When I was born, I was cryed and everyone around me was smiling.

Live our life so at the end,

I am the one who is smiling and everyone around me is crying.

Thank you very much for your help but I am sorry I do not understand. Do I need to type chmod 777 somewhere? Where do I find the images directory? Thank you again.

if you are using Firefox there is a great ftp client called FireFTP

once you connect you can right click on a directory or a file

and get 'Properties'

a dialog window comes up and allows you to set the permissions there either as a chmod number

or with check boxes for: read write execute

which is the same as setting one number

if you set these you should also see the chmod number change

images dir should be

oscommerce/images/...

hope this helps!

Just an "FYI'....

With your images folder at "777" permissions it's only a matter of time before you're shop get's hacked....

:-"

There are bots crawling all over the net looking for just such opportunities.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
