Hello everybody,

I found that forum and I feel that it's a wonderful place to learn and share.

I'm completely newbie here, so please excuse me if some of my questions will be really stupid.

Of course I have plenty of questions, but I will start bit by bit.

I installed version 2.2rc2a. Now I want to understand if downloadable contributions are completely separate modules which can be added to any version, or I don't need to download some of them because probably latest version of osCommerce includes some of them? I am lost here. Modules look very helpfull, but I don't want to install any module if I don't need them.

Just need a push in right direction.

Thanks for any help.

The contributions can be added to any version of oscommerce but they may not all work right off. Many have been converted to work with RC2 but there are still some that don't. I suggest you install a second shop in a sub-directory, with a new database, and install the contributions there. That way it can be tested without upsetting your live shop.

Thanks for reply Jack,

My shop doesn't work as production yet, it is still with a demo products, so I can ply with it foreawhile :)

I copied whole catalog to local hard drive just in case, and save files that I gonna change before changes.

Mostly everything works fine. I mean mostly, because I only have e-mail problem for now, everything else works fine (well, i didn't test buying process, cause I don't know how to buy without actualy buying). E-mail problem is kinda strange: let say sending 'contuct us' works fine, sending forgotten password works also. But sending letters to customers from Administrator pannel doesn't work: no error or warning messages, but still doesn't send anything. Don't know why. It looks like my settings are correct:

smtp

LF

Use mime html: false

Verify e-mail: false

send e-mails: true

Thanks for any help!

P.S. Oh, forgot to ask: I installed shop into catalog folder, so now it's in www.MYDOMAIN.COM/catalog

I don't realy like it, preffer better if customer should type only www.MYDOMAIN.COM/

but i don't want to realy move all folders and relink. Is there a way to redirect easy with no splash screen?

Update:

I made test order using 411111111111111111111 and it looks like system sent order emails fine. It looks like only when I try to send newsletter or other email to customers from Administrative pannel it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for reply,

I'm not sure what settings you talking, im "My store" email settings or "email options" settings.

As I posted email options settings are

e-mail Transport Method: smtp

e-mail Linefeeds: LF

Use mime html: false

Verify e-mail: false

send e-mails: true

My store settings looks like this:

e-mail address: [email protected]

e-mail from: [email protected]

Any ideas what's wrong?

Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry, I meant to create that thread about modules, not really about e-mail problem I have, but it's happened that way.

I didn't want to create two diff threads with same questions.

Please post answers about e-mail problem in http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=300995

This thread was about relation between RC2.2 and additional contributions.

I just wanted to understand if RC2.2 includes some contributions already.

Sorry, I didn't want to create a mess.
