bobgentry
My new store went live in November. Now six months later I'm still not getting very good ratings in Google. Could you look at my site and give opinions as to whether what I have done is good or bad and any ideas on to how to increase my Google rankings. Guest
Sorry, It has now. Site looks really good and seems functional. I think the text is too crowded on the front page (way too much reading and crammed too far to the left). To me, it detracts from the rest of the site. I noticed under google checkout Error: Shipping Methods not configured world (ignored) Maybe add Ultimate_SEO_URLSv21d_UPDATED Easy Meta Tags 1.4 if you have nothing similar. Thanks I had a lot of trouble getting the Google checkout to work and I have hard coded the postage costs for now. I am going to return to it soon. I'm a bit scared of adding Ultimate SEO URLs in case Google sees the pages as duplicates, will the advantages outway the problems.

♥Vger
The splash page in the root of the web is totally unncessary and just a barrier to search engines spidering all of your website. Get rid of it and move the 'catalog' folder down into the root. Vger

If I do this will it break all the current links?

If I do this will it break all the current links? Google will get over it. Just move your store to the root (store in root add on can help with this). ♥Vger
So that Google quickly knows where to go just put a .htaccess redirect in the root of the website (not in the catalog folder) e.g. Redirect 301 /catalog/ http://www.yourdomain.com/ Vger
