Guest Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I keep getting the error messages that I have messed up the permissions. I am following the quick install guide and its not working. I have tryed 4 different installs myself and also 2 from my host. Everything I get the same thing. Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/e0120590/public_html/drysnot/snotshop/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. Here is what I do please let me know where I go wrong. DL file Drag Catalog Folder into ftp Change permissions on all folders NOT subfolders to 777 Change permissions on /admin/includes/configure.php to 777 Change permissions on /includes/configure.php to 777 Go to www.mysite.com/catalog/install.php Setup database and other bs After the install (at the screen where I can click to goto the catalog or the admin control panel) I delete the install folder Change permissions on /admin/includes/configure.php to 644 Change permissions on includes/configure.php to 644 At this point I click on catalog and its still not working has the little red warning at the top The backup folder is already created in my admin folder so I don't do that and I don't password protect the admin folder because the install hasn't worked yet. Thanks for the help.

Guest Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Change permissions on the configure.php files to 444 or 400 Vger Thank you so much for the help. Can I make that change now or do I need to reinstall? If I need to reinstall should I delete and recreate the database or does it matter? I'v just been using the same DB
Guest Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Change permissions on the configure.php files to 444 or 400 Vger I guess my sever does not allow me to change that. It wont let me change the first row lower than 6. 7 is fine but when I change it to 4 it changes back to 6 by its self. Any ideas? Thanks
