I know that Iam losing sales like crazy, because people dont want to open a bank account to buy a laptop or pair of boots. Is there any way to bypass customers having to open paypal account to purchase merchandise. Welcome all ideas.

If you have a business account with paypal, they have solutions there so that your customers checking out with OSCommerce have a fully integrated service. Those customers do NOT have to open account with paypal. Browse around on paypal as they have answers there.
