evolutionwebinc Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I need to do an upgrade from 2.2rc1 to rc2a but the only upgrade instructions I can find are to upgrade all the way from 1.x to 2.x versions? I found a read-me file that litst all the changes the upgrade does but no instructions about actually doing the upgrade? Do I just copy the files over to the server and overwrite the old files? Cart has stopped allowing checkout because can't get past shipping options to select payment options. Thanks.

jacobburke Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Yeah, some actual instructions on what files to overwrite would be good, since I have a customized theme installed. Any help on this is greatly appreciated!!!
Jack_mcs Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 The upgrade.html file has the files to be changed and what needs to be changed in them. The changes are highlighted in colors and the first column has a line number and a + or -, meaning to add or remove. It's pretty straight-forward although, like any such change, the changes needed may not match your shop if you have made changes to it. Jack I normally wait for an actual "upgrade" with a automated script because trying to edit all those files manually is just more hassle than it is worth. I decided to just do a fresh install with Zen cart and started over. That way when they release updates they are almost always automated. http://www.zen-cart.com/ It is based on osCommerce but a lot easier to configure the cart the way you want it to look without plug ins or editing php files.
Jack_mcs Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 There isn't an upgrade script, for any oscommerce based shop, since one of the main selling points of oscommerce is that you can custom code it, once that is done, automated scripts don't work.
